Agostinho Villela has a degree in Electronic Engineering from PUC-RJ. He has worked with IT for over 32 years, on both HW and SW, working with operating systems and LAN, in his early years. Agostinho is co-author of a patent on cybersecurity (fingerprinting of devices) and a patent submission on caching for voice-based assistants, entrepreneur and mentor at Endeavor, Cross-systems IT Specialist, co-author of a Redbook on distributed computing programming , founder of the IBM Brazil Garage, IBM AoT - Academy of Technology WW Geo Leader, visiting professor in Rapid Innovation at Fundação Dom Cabral, and founder of the Brazil 5G Telecommunications Solutions Lab, in addition to having recently been involved in digital contact tracing, PCR test pooling simulation, and cough pattern acoustic insights initiatives for COVID-19. He led TLC-BR's annual local studies on Analytics, SDN, IoT, Blockchain, Robots, Quantum, Homomorphic Cryptography, and 5G. Currently, he is a Distinguished Engineer, the Director of Innovation at IBM LA, and the leader of the 5G Brazil Telecommunications Solutions Lab, in addition to specializing in Open RAN and 5G, and being the worldwide representative of IBM at TIP (Telecom Infra Project). His hobbies include electric bikes, TV series, history, geography, and cleantech.
